MECHANIC

M.T. Laney Co. Inc. is an established, successful construction firm in Eldersburg, MD. We are searching for an experienced, committed, career-minded Mechanic responsible for maintaining our diesel and gas trucks and other small fleet vehicles.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Always ensures a safe work environment for self and others
• Maintain a clean and organized work environment
• Conducts preventive maintenance to avoid unnecessary repairs and downtime on all types of vehicles
• Preventative maintenance on small fleet vehicles
• Diagnosing the cause of any malfunction, using testing instruments to diagnose and perform appropriate repairs required to ensure proper working condition
• Inspect the brake system, steering mechanisms, wheel bearings, and other important parts to ensure that they are in proper operating condition
• Perform annual inspections, evaluations, and repairs. Maintains an accurate schedule and legible record of equipment and vehicle maintenance logs and reports
• Road test vehicles
• Perform other duties as assigned
• Follow all safety policies and use of proper PPE

SKILLS

• Basic math, reading, and writing skills are required (English)
• Ability to use a computer to report accurate repairs to vehicles
• Must be safety-oriented and exhibit safe work habits

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Must be a minimum of 21 years old
• Must have a valid driver’s license with a good driving record
• Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check
• An emphasis on safety on and off the road
• Punctual and reliable; good attendance required
• Knowledge of DOT standards and requirements
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• Understand and follow directions from supervisors
• Must have a good working set of mechanics tools

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Lift and move up to 75 pounds
• Stand for prolonged amounts of time
• Walk, bend, kneel, and twist
• Willing to work overtime as needed
• Able to work from elevated platforms

• Full-Time, Non-Exempt Position
• Salary based on knowledge, experience, and education

EDUCATION:

• High school diploma or GED is preferred

EXPERIENCE:

• 2+ years’ experience as a Vehicle Mechanic preferred
